Brussels, 2 February (LaPresse) – ‘We must also think about the aftermath’ of the war and ‘our current approach is to put more pressure on Russia to move from pretending to negotiate to actually negotiating, and that is what we are doing, in addition to supporting Ukraine.’ This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas in her speech at a panel with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store at the Oslo Security Conference. ‘There has been a lot of pressure on the Ukrainians to make very difficult concessions’ and "this is clouding the overall picture, making it unclear where the problem actually lies. In the last 100 years, Russia has attacked at least 19 countries, some as many as three or four times. None of these countries,‘ he emphasised, ’has ever attacked Russia. So the question is: how can we ensure that this war does not continue or spread elsewhere? We need to see concessions from Russia on limitations, on their military budget, on their army, in order to truly eliminate this threat, in addition to accountability for the crimes they have committed."
