Milan, 27 January (LaPresse) – The French National Assembly has approved, with 130 votes in favour and 21 against, a bill banning children under the age of 15 from accessing social media. This was reported by Le Monde. The bill also bans the use of mobile phones by teenagers in school playgrounds. In addition to the government, the majority of socialists and the far-right alliance National Rally-Union of the Right for the Republic voted in favour of the bill. Only members of La France Insoumise and two members of the Green Party opposed it. “Banning social media for children under 15: this is the recommendation of scientists and the request of a large majority of the French people. After fruitful work with the government, the National Assembly has given its approval. This is an important step,” French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on X.
