Davos, Jan 22 (LaPresse) – NATO Secretary Mark Rutte stated that the United States is “truly committed” to supporting Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty. He made the remarks while attending a breakfast organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and EastOne at the World Economic Forum in Davos. When asked if the Trump administration is “truly committed” to supporting Ukraine, its independence, and its security, Rutte replied, “Absolutely yes, and I have never doubted it.” Rutte highlighted European plans to unlock funds for Ukraine’s defense and U.S.-led talks on a peace agreement, but noted that these efforts will not yield immediate results and that Russia continues drone and missile attacks against Ukraine. “What we must do is keep our eyes on Ukraine. Let’s not lose sight of the goal,” he said. Rutte also stated that he hopes peace talks for Ukraine will conclude soon, but likely not before April or May.
