Milan, 21 Jan. (LaPresse) – Prince Harry is ready to testify today in a London court in the privacy violation case against the Daily Mail and its sister newspaper Sunday. Tens of millions of dollars are at stake in this case, in which Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, is joined by Elton John, actresses Elizabeth Hurley and Sadie Frost, and others who claim that the Mail's publisher hired private investigators to bug their cars, obtain their personal data and intercept their phone calls. It is the latest round in Harry's battle against British tabloids, with his lawyer arguing that the newspapers have been guilty of a ‘clear, systematic and prolonged use of illegal information gathering’ for two decades. Associated Newspapers Ltd. has denied the allegations, stating that the articles in question were reported by legitimate sources that included “indiscreet” contributors willing to gossip about their famous friends. Harry was due to testify on Thursday, but the preliminary statements concluded yesterday, ahead of schedule.
