Milan, 19 Jan. (LaPresse) – As the controversy over Greenland intensifies, US President Donald Trump has written a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre questioning whether Denmark really has the right to govern the island and stating that since he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, ‘I no longer feel obliged to think exclusively about peace.’ This was reported by British broadcaster Sky News, which said it had obtained the letter. ‘Dear Jonas, considering that your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping eight wars, I no longer feel obliged to think exclusively about peace, even though this will always be predominant, but now I can think about what is good and right for the United States of America,’ Trump begins in the letter. ‘Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, so why should it have “ownership rights”? There are no written documents, it's just that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we also had boats landing there,’ the US president continues. He added: ‘I have done more than anyone else for NATO since its founding, and now NATO should do something for the United States.’ ‘The world is not safe unless we have complete and total control of Greenland,’ the White House tenant concluded.
