Milan, 18 January (LaPresse) – The Syrian government and the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have agreed to an immediate ceasefire on all fronts. SDF forces will withdraw east of the Euphrates River, according to the state news agency Sana. The agreement provides for the immediate and complete transfer of administrative and military control to the Damascus authorities of the governorates of Deir Az Zor and Raqqa, previously under Kurdish control. Under the agreement, the Syrian government will take control of all civil institutions and structures in the two governorates, issuing decrees to reinstate current employees in the relevant state ministries. The government has also pledged not to target SDF employees, fighters or members of the existing civil administration in these areas. This was reported by Al Jazeera.
