Milan, 18 January (LaPresse) – "Tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk triggering a dangerous downward spiral. We will continue to respond in a united and coordinated manner. We are committed to defending our sovereignty." This is what Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom, the eight countries for which US President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs starting on 1 February, wrote in a joint statement. ‘We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland,’ the statement continues, ‘based on the process initiated last week, we are ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we firmly uphold.’
