Spain, poll: Vox boom, with PP closer than ever to an absolute majority

Madrid (Spain), 12 January (LaPresse) – Vox continues to rise in the polls in Spain. According to the latest survey conducted by 40dB for Cadena Ser and El País, if the election were held today, Santiago Abascal's party would win 17.9% of the vote, more than five percentage points higher than in the last general election in 2023. The curious thing is that Vox, in addition to having a loyal electorate and mobilising new voters, is also attracting increasing support among those who voted for Pedro Sánchez's PSOE in the last elections. Abascal's far right, together with Alberto Núñez Feijóo's Popular Party, would reach 49.4% of the vote. Never in history have the two parties been so close to the absolute majority threshold, Cadena Ser and El País point out. According to the poll, the PP remains the leading political force with 31.5% of the vote, but this is one and a half points less than in the 2023 elections.
