Moscow, Jan. 9 (LaPresse) – About 556,000 residents of the Russian city of Belgorod region have been left without electricity and heating due to overnight shelling by Ukrainian armed forces, while nearly 200,000 people have no water. This was reported by the regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, according to the Tass news agency. “As of 6:00 a.m., 556,000 people in six municipalities were without electricity and nearly as many without heating, in 1,920 apartment buildings. Almost 200,000 people were without water,” Gladkov said on his Telegram channel. He stressed that backup capacity is currently being connected: “We will be able to fully assess the damage and the recovery times; the situation is extremely difficult.”
