Milan, Jan. 7 (LaPresse) – Assistance continues for Italian citizens stranded on the Yemeni island of Socotra. A first return flight is arriving today in Jeddah with 46 Italians on board. Fifty-nine tourists remain on the island and will return on other flights scheduled in the coming days. This was announced by the Foreign Ministry in a statement. “Thanks also to the intervention of our Embassy in Riyadh, in close collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, contacts are underway with the Yemeni authorities and the airline responsible for the route to facilitate the transit of Italian tourists,” the statement reads, “our compatriots will also be granted a 4-day transit visa in Saudi Arabia to facilitate the repatriation procedures as much as possible.”
