Venezuela, Tajani: ‘Now we must ensure stability and help the civilian population’
Turin, 7 January (LaPresse) – "The first thing to do is to ensure stability in Venezuela, prevent civil war and calm the situation. Then we must work to ensure economic growth. This is essential because, as Pope Leo says, we must stand by the civilian population. This is of great importance to us, as there are about 170,000 citizens living in Venezuela who have Italian passports.‘ This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Rai1's “Cinque minuti”. ’For us, it is essential to help the population, not the regime. We have not done so in the past; we have not recognised Maduro. But now is the time to help the civilian population," he explained. ‘Once this transition phase is over, we can move towards a democratic situation and new elections,’ he added.
