Washington, Jan. 5 (LaPresse) – Cuba “is collapsing.” This was said by US President Donald Trump, speaking from Air Force One on his return to Washington from his Mar-a-Lago residence. “It is collapsing definitively,” he added, referring to the situation in Venezuela. Trump stated that the Cuban economy, hit by years of US embargo, is in ruins and will continue to worsen with Maduro’s ousting, who provided subsidized oil to the Caribbean island. “We need Greenland from a national security standpoint, and Denmark won’t be able to do it. It’s so strategic right now. Greenland is full of Russian and Chinese ships everywhere,” Trump emphasized. He then warned Colombia, “governed by a sick man who likes to produce cocaine and sell it to the United States. He won’t be doing it for long,” referring to leftist President Gustavo Petro. “He has cocaine factories and factories. He won’t do it.” When asked if he would order the United States to conduct an operation against Colombia, Trump replied: “Sounds like a good idea to me.” The Trump administration imposed sanctions in October on Petro, his family, and a government member over alleged involvement in global drug trafficking. Colombia is considered the epicenter of the world’s cocaine trade. “Something must be done with Mexico. Mexico needs to get moving” and better fight drug trafficking, Trump concluded.
