Washington (U.S.), Jan. 5 (LaPresse) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said he was “deeply concerned about the failure to respect the rules of international law” during the U.S. military action in Venezuela. In a statement read during a Security Council meeting, Guterres stressed that international law “provides the foundations for maintaining international peace and security.” Guterres also expressed concern over the possible consequences of the U.S. action. “I am deeply concerned about the possible intensification of instability in the country, the potential impact on the region, and the precedent this could set for relations between states,” he said.
