Milan, 3 January (LaPresse/AP) – The US military operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has disrupted flights to the Caribbean. On Saturday, no flights crossed Venezuela, according to FlightRadar24.com. Major airlines cancelled hundreds of flights in the eastern Caribbean after the FAA imposed restrictions. Flights to Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Aruba were cancelled. Airlines are waiving rerouting fees on rescheduled flights. The FAA imposed a temporary airspace restriction at Puerto Rico International Airport. JetBlue cancelled approximately 215 flights, while United and Southwest adjusted their schedules. American Airlines waived rerouting fees for flights to approximately 20 island destinations.
