Moscow, Dec. 28 (LaPresse) – “To the less discerning European politicians, to whom I hope this interview will be shown, I repeat once again: there is no reason to fear that Russia will attack anyone.” This is what Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the Tass agency, adding at the same time that “if anyone decided to attack Russia, the response would be devastating.” Lavrov recalled that “Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken publicly about this several times.”
“If figures such as von der Leyen, Merz, Starmer, Macron, and others like them have passed the point of no return, it is a complex issue. For now, we see that the European ‘war party,’ which has invested its political capital in the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, is ready to go all the way,” Lavrov added.
“The ruling circles in most European countries are inflating the ‘Russian threat,’ fueling Russophobic and militaristic sentiments in society. I would like to emphasize in particular that all this is done without any legitimate basis: Russia has never undertaken hostile actions against its European neighbors on its own initiative.”
