Turin, 27 December (LaPresse) – Poland scrambled jets in response to Russian attacks on Kyiv overnight. “Due to the long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation, which is carrying out attacks on Ukrainian territory, the military aviation operation in Polish airspace has begun,” announced the Operational Command of the Armed Forces in Warsaw, adding that it had 'deployed the necessary forces and resources at its disposal. Fighter jets have taken off, while ground-based air defence and radar surveillance systems have been placed on alert. These actions are preventive in nature and aim to ensure the safety and protection of the airspace, especially in areas adjacent to the threatened zones." The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency reported that two airports, Rzeszow and Lublin, have been temporarily closed.
