Turin, 25 Dec. (LaPresse) – ‘Israel will never completely withdraw from Gaza. There will be an important security zone within the Strip, even after the transition to phase two of the peace agreement if Hamas lays down its arms, which will guarantee security within Gaza to protect’ Israeli communities. This was stated by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz during a press conference, as reported by the Times of Israel. If Hamas does not disarm, ‘we will do it,’ Katz said, adding that if Israel does not control the Philadelphia Corridor between Gaza and Egypt ‘even for a single day,’ Iran will be able to send all kinds of weapons to Gaza. Katz then clarified that his ‘vision’ for Gaza, to be realised ‘in due course’, includes the creation of Nahal pioneer groups in the northern Gaza Strip.
