Ukraine, von der Leyen: ‘Loan for Kiev with joint debt’

Brussels, 19 Dec. (LaPresse) – "We have reached an agreement that allows us to meet Ukraine's financial needs for the next two years. Member States have agreed to finance Ukraine through EU borrowing on the capital markets for an amount of €90 billion over the next two years. We will do this through enhanced cooperation, supported by the EU budget margin and based on a unanimous agreement to amend the MFF, similar to the loan for repairs. In this case, it is very important that Ukraine only repays the loan after receiving the repairs'. This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the press conference following the European Council meeting.
