Ukraine, Macron: ‘EU summit solution needed to give visibility to Kiev’

Brussels, 18 December (LaPresse) – "In my view, a Europe that protects its citizens and its continent must truly be at the heart of the European project. The first solution is to move forward with Ukraine. We will soon meet with President Zelensky, and ultimately, our forum must be able to continue its efforts to give visibility to Ukraine and our Ukrainian people.‘ French President Emmanuel Macron said this upon his arrival at the European Council. ’The European Commission has put forward several technical proposals. I want to say here that we must find the right solution calmly and respectfully. The most important thing is that we all share the same goal: to help Ukraine finance its war effort and resist, and then we will succeed as Europeans. We have achieved the freezing of these assets. I said that this was a very good thing. Now we must secure the funding," he continued. ‘We will find the technical solution, so we must not be divided on technical models; everyone must be respected and listened to. So we will discuss this with our Belgian colleague, with all our colleagues, and I will work calmly with them, but I am confident that we will find a solution because Europeans are united by this desire to continue, and a solution is necessary for this Council, and we will find it here,’ he concluded.
