Milan, 17 December (LaPresse) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has stated that if the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union is not reached in December, Brazil will not extend the discussion any further. ‘I now understand that they will not be able to approve it,’ he said, as reported by CNN Brasil, ‘it is difficult because Italy and France do not want to do so due to internal political problems. And I have already warned them that if we do not do it now, Brazil will not make any more agreements while I am president.’ ‘We have been waiting for this agreement for 26 years, and it is more favourable to them than to us,’ he added.
