Syria: 2 US soldiers and interpreter killed in ambush

Milan, Dec. 13 (LaPresse) – Two US military personnel and a civilian interpreter were killed in an ISIS ambush in central Syria. Three other people were wounded. “The attack occurred while the soldiers were engaged in an important clash,” read a post on social network X by Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell, “their mission was in support of ongoing counter-ISIS/counterterrorism operations in the region.” US Central Command specified that, out of respect for the families and in accordance with War Department policy, the identities of the service members will not be disclosed until 24 hours after notification of their next of kin. The attack on US troops in Syria is the first to cause casualties since the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad one year ago.
