Turin, 13 December (LaPresse) – The death toll from the floods and landslides that have hit Indonesia in recent weeks has risen to 1,003. This was reported by the National Disaster Management Agency in its latest report, while the country is grappling with efforts to continue relief efforts. More than 5,400 people were injured as a result of the disaster, which struck the north-western island of Sumatra. The final toll is expected to rise, with the agency reporting 218 people still missing. With vast areas of land affected, 1.2 million residents have been forced to find temporary shelter. President Prabowo Subianto said the situation has improved, with several areas that had been cut off now accessible.
