Brussels, 10 December (LaPresse) – ‘Trump's new National Security Strategy revives MAGA's fantasy of a “Europe in decline”. The EU is a force for freedom, social justice and democracy. The EU strengthens national sovereignty by ensuring growth, stability and peace,’ Iratxe García Pérez, chair of the Socialists and Democrats group in the European Parliament, told LaPresse. ‘Supporting those who want to dismantle Europe is unpatriotic,’ she added. ‘The European Parliament is directly elected by the people for the European people, the highest expression of democracy representing 450 million citizens from 27 Member States. If Trump targets our Union, we will respond with greater strategic autonomy, greater unity and greater strength.’
