Milan, 3 December (LaPresse) – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had a long telephone conversation today with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss ongoing mediation efforts for peace in Ukraine, the crisis in Gaza and the Middle East, and the situation in Venezuela. According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, "the two ministers first discussed the Latin American country, which remains a cause for common concern. Minister Tajani recalled the condition of the many Italian nationals unjustly detained in Venezuela, including Alberto Trentini, on whom the government continues to work tirelessly, also in coordination with its US partners. The Secretary of State confirmed to Minister Tajani that the United States is committed to working alongside Italy in the Trentini case and on behalf of all political prisoners."
