Milan, Nov. 26 (LaPresse) – The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, confirmed that he has been deposed in an exclusive phone call with France24. “I have been deposed,” Embalo said, adding that he could not speak further without risking having his phone confiscated. Embalo, now removed from office, stated that he is “currently at the headquarters of the general staff.” A group of officers calling itself the “High Military Command for the Restoration of Order” had claimed to have taken power in Guinea-Bissau “until further notice.” The coup statement was read at the headquarters of the armed forces by General Denis N’Canha, head of the royal military household at the presidential palace.
