Milan, Nov. 23 (LaPresse) – Fifty students kidnapped from St. Mary's Catholic primary and secondary school in Papiri, Niger State, have reportedly managed to escape and reunite with their parents, as confirmed on Sunday by school authorities. This has been verified by the school's administration, the Christian Association of Nigeria. According to Monsignor Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, president of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), owner of the school and Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Kontagora, “while we welcome with relief the return of these 50 escaped children, I urge you all to continue to pray for the rescue and safe return of the other victims.” “At present, 251 primary school pupils, 14 secondary school students, and 12 teachers are still trapped by their captors,” reads the statement by Daniel Atori, press assistant to Bishop Yohanna.
