Melbourne (Australia), 20 Nov. (LaPresse) – Today, Meta began sending thousands of young Australians a notice reminding them to download their digital history and delete their accounts from Facebook, Instagram and Threads before the world's first ban on social media for children under 16 comes into effect. Two weeks ago, the Australian government announced that, starting on 10 December, the three Meta platforms, as well as Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube, will have to take measures to exclude Australian users under the age of 16. Meta has therefore contacted thousands of young account holders via text message and email to warn them that, starting on 4 December, suspected minors will be denied access to the platforms.
