Ukraine: Kiev suspends Justice Minister following corruption investigation

Rome, 12 November (LaPresse) – Ukrainian Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko has been suspended from office following an investigation into corruption at Energoatom. "An extraordinary government meeting was held this morning. We have decided to suspend Herman Galushchenko from his position as Justice Minister," announced Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko, as quoted by the media in Kiev. The duties of minister will be carried out by Deputy Minister for European Integration Liudmyla Sugak. ‘I believe that suspension for the duration of the investigation is a civil and correct scenario. I will defend myself legally and prove my position,’ Galushchenko said.
