Milan, 10 Nov. (LaPresse) – ‘Now that I have regained my freedom and my family, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who wrote to me, supported me and defended me. The thousands of messages I received moved me and gave me the strength to overcome this ordeal.’ This is what former French President Nicolas Sarkozy wrote in a post on social media after being released from prison today and placed under probation. ‘The law has been applied,’ he added, ‘now I will prepare for the appeal process. All my energy is focused on the sole objective of proving my innocence. The truth will prevail. It is a lesson that life teaches us.’ ‘The ending of the story has yet to be written,’ Sarkozy concluded.
