Ukraine, four dead in Russian raids: three in Dnipro and one in Kharkiv

Kyiv (Ukraine), 8 November (LaPresse/AP) – A total of four people have died in Russia's raids overnight in Ukraine, including three from a drone strike on a building in Dnipro and an energy company worker killed in Kharkiv, according to local authorities. In Dnipro, Ukraine's fourth-largest city, a drone struck a nine-storey building, killing three people and injuring 12, including two children. The death of the worker in Kharkiv, the country's second largest city, was reported by the region's governor, Oleh Syniehubov. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said in a post on X that the attacks damaged “several important energy facilities” around Kharkiv and Kyiv, as well as in the central region of Poltava. ‘We are working to eliminate the consequences of the attacks across the country. The main goal is to quickly restore heating, electricity and water supply,’ Svyrydenko added. Russia launched a total of 458 drones and 45 missiles, including 32 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian forces shot down and neutralised 406 drones and nine missiles, the air force said, adding that 25 locations were hit. Authorities cut off electricity supplies in several regions due to the attacks, Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk said on Facebook.
