Milan, 8 Nov. (LaPresse) – Israel is holding dozens of Palestinians from Gaza in solitary confinement in an underground prison, the Rakefet complex, where they never see daylight, are deprived of adequate food and cannot receive news from their families or the outside world. This is reported exclusively by The Guardian, specifying that among the detainees are at least two civilians who were arrested without charge or trial: a nurse arrested while wearing his uniform and a young food vendor, according to lawyers from the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (Pcati), who represent both. The two men have been held in the Rakefet underground complex since January and have described regular beatings and violence, similar to the well-documented torture in other Israeli detention centres, the Guardian reports.
