Washington (USA), 29 October (LaPresse) – President Donald Trump's advisers are considering Las Vegas as the venue for next year's Republican midterm convention. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the ongoing discussions. Trump has told his aides that the convention will be an opportunity to highlight Republican congressional candidates and outgoing members of Congress, as well as his achievements as president, according to people involved. Trump first floated the idea of a midterm convention earlier this year, and his advisers are working out plans for the event. Political conventions, where party delegates from across the country formally nominate their presidential candidates, usually take place only during presidential election years. Democrats held midterm conventions in the 1970s and 1980s, but Republicans have never followed suit.
