Washington (USA), 29 October (LaPresse) – Donald Trump has admitted that the Constitution prevents him from running for a third term. ‘If you read it, it's pretty clear. I'm not allowed to run. It's a shame,’ Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while travelling to South Korea, the last stop on his tour of Asia. The president's statements, released on Wednesday morning (local time), come after Trump himself said in recent days that he ‘would like’ to run for a third presidential term, while stressing that the move ‘would not be right’ because there are others he considers suitable to run for president in 2028. In particular, the president had referred to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance. Trump's latest statements come after some of his allies, including Steve Bannon, had promoted the idea of him running for a third term.
