Gaza, Hamas: "If the occupation ends we will hand over the weapons"

Rome, October 26 (LaPresse) – "Hamas' weapons are linked to the existence of the occupation and Israeli aggression, and if the occupation were to end, these weapons would be handed over to the state." This was stated by Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya in an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera Arabic, specifying that the future of Hamas' weapons is still being discussed with other armed factions and mediators. In the interview, al-Hayya also emphasized that Hamas has no reservations about transferring administrative responsibilities for Gaza to any Palestinian national body, and that Hamas also wants elections to be held throughout Palestine. "We accept United Nations forces as controllers of the borders and the ceasefire in Gaza," he added. "We are not satisfied with the amount of aid arriving in the Gaza Strip and we request the intervention of mediators. Gaza needs 6,000 trucks of aid per day, not just 600. The humanitarian situation concerns us, and Israel continues to delay the arrival of aid to Gaza."
