La Paz (Bolivia), 20 October (LaPresse) – Centrist senator Rodrigo Paz has won the Bolivian presidential election, obtaining over 54% of the votes, against 45% for his rival, former head of state Jorge Quiroga, a right-wing politician. The count is not yet complete, but according to the president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Óscar Hassenteufel, the trend is now ‘irreversible’. ‘Today, Bolivia can be sure that this will be a government that will bring solutions,’ Paz told his supporters after taking to the stage with his wife María Helena Urquidi and their four adult children. Quiroga has conceded defeat.
