Rome, 10 October (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the authority of the Nobel Peace Prize has been ‘greatly diminished,’ although ‘it is not for me to judge.’ The Kremlin leader spoke at a press conference after his visit to Tajikistan, according to Interfax. ‘It seems to me, and I doubt anyone will object, that there have been cases where the Committee has awarded the Peace Prize to people who have done nothing for peace, and in my opinion, these decisions have caused enormous damage to the prestige of this prize,’ he said. ‘A Nobel Prize should be awarded for work, for some kind of achievement,’ Putin concluded.
