Milan, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – Following the political agreement reached on July 13 between EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the EU and Indonesia have finalized negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and an Investment Protection Agreement (IPA). The EU’s trade and economic security commissioner, Maroš Šefcovic, led the negotiations. In Indonesia now, both sides are celebrating this historic milestone and engaging with European and Indonesian businesses to support imminent ratification and forthcoming steps. These forward‑looking, mutually beneficial global agreements mark a fundamental milestone in the EU’s strategy of diversification and partnership, strengthen trade and investment ties with one of the world’s major economies, and create new export opportunities and more secure supply chains for energy and raw materials.
