USA: judge dismisses Trump’s defamation lawsuit against the NYT

Washington (USA), Sept. 19 (LaPresse) – A federal judge in Tampa, Florida, has dismissed Donald Trump’s defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, stating that the 85-page complaint filed by the president’s lawyers was “entirely improper and inadmissible” under the rules governing civil proceedings in federal courts. Judge Steven Merryday, appointed by President George H.W. Bush, ruled that a new complaint can be filed within 28 days and must be limited to fewer than 40 pages. Trump was seeking $15 billion in damages from the New York Times and four of its journalists.
