Brussels, 12 September (LaPresse) – Irregular entries into the European Union fell by 21% in the first eight months of 2025, reaching 112,375, according to preliminary data from Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. According to the findings, there was a significant decline on the Western Balkan routes (-47%), the Eastern Land Border (-44%) and West Africa (-52%). The Central Mediterranean remains the busiest route, accounting for 37% of all irregular entries. The western Mediterranean has seen a 22% increase in irregular entries. The most frequently reported nationalities are Bangladeshi, Egyptian and Afghan.
