Brussels, 8 September (LaPresse) – "I can confirm that our EU sanctions envoy, David O'Sullivan, is currently in Washington, DC, with a team of EU experts. They will meet with their US counterparts later today to discuss sanctions. Over the weekend, the Commission contacted our Member States, which is a normal part of the procedure for preparing sanctions packages." This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill in a press briefing. Regarding the trips by EU leaders to Washington referred to by Donald Trump, ‘President von der Leyen is fully focused on her State of the Union address in Strasbourg on Wednesday and no further trips are planned at this stage. I cannot speak on behalf of other EU Member States, but there are no other leaders in Washington or travelling there,’ he added.
