It is not easy, absolutely not. We are friends of Israel and friends of the Palestinian people. Israel has made a mistake in this latest phase because it has gone beyond the limits of a justified and proportionate response.‘ This was stated by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani on Tg4. ’Hamas,‘ he added, ’is jointly responsible for everything that is happening because it is using its own people as a shield and is therefore also jointly responsible for the deaths that have occurred. Israel is wrong, I repeat. It is time to stop these attacks,‘ he reiterated. ’It is time to end the attacks in the West Bank, including those against Christian communities, not because the life of a Palestinian Christian is worth more than that of a non-Christian Palestinian, but because Christian communities are an element of peace and stability‘ and ’attacking them is a gift to Hamas".
