Milan, 5 September (LaPresse) – The unimaginable has already begun in Gaza City. That is what UNICEF says. "Gaza City, the last refuge for families in the northern Gaza Strip, is rapidly becoming a place where children cannot survive. It is a city of fear, flight and funerals,‘ says Tess Ingram, UNICEF's communications officer for the Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa. ’In Gaza City, in nine days, I met families who fled their homes in fear – already displaced, now displaced again – arriving with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. I met children who had been separated from their parents in the chaos. Mothers whose children had starved to death. Mothers who fear their children will be next. I spoke to children in hospital, their small bodies torn by shrapnel. “This unthinkable is not imminent, it is already here. The escalation is underway,” Ingram said.
