Milan, 3 September. (LaPresse) – ‘Yesterday morning, Israeli Defence Force (IDF) drones dropped four grenades near UNIFIL peacekeepers who were removing roadblocks preventing access to a United Nations post near the Blue Line.’ This is according to a statement released by UNIFIL. ‘This is one of the most serious attacks against UNIFIL personnel and assets since the signing of the cessation of hostilities agreement last November,’ the statement continued, "one grenade fell less than 20 metres and three about 100 metres from UN personnel and vehicles. The drones were spotted returning south of the Blue Line.‘ ’The IDF had been informed in advance of UNIFIL's road clearance work in the area south-east of the village of Marwahin. For the safety of peacekeepers after the incident, yesterday's work was suspended,‘ the NATO force said, ’any action that endangers UN personnel and assets and interferes with their assigned tasks is unacceptable and constitutes a serious violation of Resolution 1701 and international law. It is the responsibility of the IDF to ensure the safety and security of peacekeeping personnel carrying out the tasks assigned to them by the Security Council."
