Brussels, 1 September (LaPresse) – "We can indeed confirm that there was a GPS signal disturbance, but the aircraft landed safely in Bulgaria. We have received information from the Bulgarian authorities that this was due to blatant interference by Russia. We are, of course, aware of and somewhat accustomed to the threats and intimidation that are a constant feature of Russia's hostile behaviour.‘ This was stated by European Commission spokeswoman Arianna Podestà in the daily press briefing, responding to a question about the Financial Times' reports. ’Of course, this will only further strengthen our unwavering commitment to enhancing defence capabilities and support for Ukraine. This incident actually underscores the urgency of the mission that the President is currently carrying out in the frontline Member States, where she has seen first-hand the daily challenges posed by threats from Russia and its allies,‘ she emphasised. ’And of course, the EU will continue to invest in defence spending and Europe's preparedness even more after this incident."
