Jerusalem, 29 August (LaPresse/AP) – Israel has announced that its armed forces have recovered the bodies of two hostages, one of whom has been identified as Ilan Weiss, an Israeli man killed in the Be'eri kibbutz during the attack on 7 October 2023, while the other has not been identified. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office reported that the bodies had been returned to Israel. Of the 251 hostages captured by Hamas-led militants nearly 22 months ago, about 50 remain in Gaza, 20 of whom Israel believes are still alive.
