Brussels, 29 August. (LaPresse) – ‘Russia does not want peace, that is very clear at this moment. So, given the attacks they are carrying out, we must put pressure on them so that they too want peace. That is the only thing that works.’ This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, upon her arrival at the informal Gymnich Defence Council in Copenhagen.We are working on the next package and there are several options on the table. Obviously, the ones that will hurt them the most are the energy sanctions and all the secondary sanctions that the Americans have proposed, for example, but also the financial services that really hinder them, access to capital, which they so desperately need," she explains. ‘We always put a lot of things on the table and then in the end we have to find an agreement. But these discussions are ongoing and everyone understands that, considering how Putin is mocking peace efforts, the only thing that works is pressure,’ he reiterates.
