Washington (USA), August 27 (LaPresse) – Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, currently under scrutiny by Donald Trump for alleged irregularities in mortgage applications, should take a leave of absence until the matter is resolved. This was stated by White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett. “The fact that she isn’t doing so suggests she is biased and trying to take a partisan stance against the Fed’s independence,” Hassett told reporters. He added that the investigation into Cook has now been referred to the Department of Justice. “The president absolutely has the authority to remove a Fed governor for cause, and I believe these allegations are serious,” Hassett said.
