Frankfurt (Germany), August 26 (LaPresse) – "At the moment, we do not believe the conditions are met for the recognition of the Palestinian state," said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Merz stated that Germany will not support the initiative to recognize the Palestinian state at next month’s United Nations General Assembly. "The federal government’s position is clear regarding the possible recognition of the State of Palestine. We will not join this initiative. We do not believe the requirements are met," Merz explained.
