Vatican City (Vatican), 25 Aug. (LaPresse) – "I thank the Holy Father for accepting my request to meet him for an audience with my family. During the meeting, I reiterated Italy's commitment to peace in the Middle East and Ukraine, and we also discussed the situation in Sudan. We spoke about all the wars in the world and the importance that each of us must place on the commitment to peace. I have great confidence in this Pontiff, a spiritual guide for Christians, but not only.‘ These were the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani as he left the Vatican after being received in audience by Pope Leo XIV. When asked if there had been any talk of possible Vatican mediation for Ukraine, Tajani replied: ’We did not discuss that. We spoke in general terms about peace."
