USA: after Erik, parole board denies parole to Lyle Menendez as well

Los Angeles (USA), Aug. 23 (LaPresse) – Lyle Menendez has been denied parole by the same board that the day before rejected his brother Erik’s parole request, after serving decades in prison for the 1989 murder of their parents in their Beverly Hills home.

The reason was the same for both: bad conduct behind bars. A panel of two commissioners denied Lyle Menendez parole for three years following a full-day hearing.

The commissioners noted that Lyle, Erik’s older brother, still displayed “antisocial personality traits such as deceit, minimization, and rule-breaking hidden beneath that positive surface.”

“We know you have had little hope of release for years,” Commissioner Julie Garland said. “Citizens are expected to obey the rules regardless of whether incentives to do so exist.”
